Hampton Road Academy is proud to announce the construction of a new baseball field expected to be completed this spring thanks to the generous support of MICG Investment Management.
“We are extremely excited that MICG Park will be the new home of HRA baseball, said HRA Athletic Director Max Gillespie. “This is truly going to be a great place to play baseball games. MICG Park is another huge step forward for us as we continue to strive to provide our student athletes with outstanding facilities.”
In addition to a new baseball field, HRA’s softball field will receive enhancements and move to its new location on the current baseball field.
The Navigator Club of Hampton Roads Academy launched the fund raising effort for the new baseball field in 2006.
“MICG is a great partner with the Navigator Club and HRA athletics. We are looking forward to a great baseball year,” said Bruce Cooke, Navigator Club president.
MICG is a comprehensive wealth management firm with offices from Norfolk, Va., to New York City providing financial planning, investment banking, real estate consulting, lending, insurance and trust services to individual and corporate clients.
MICG Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Martinovich serves on the Christopher Newport University School of Business Board of Advisors, is Chairman of the Board for The Children’s Village of Hampton Roads, past president of Big Brothers Big Sisters, a volunteer basketball coach and Membership Chair for the Virginia Chapter of the Young Presidents Organization.
Martinovich is thrilled about helping HRA’s baseball team and supporting youth athletics. Jeff says “all children should have an opportunity to grow up playing a sport they enjoy and the chance to share that passion in adulthood with future generations.”
An essential part of MICG is community involvement in numerous charities, clubs and civic organizations such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and March of Dimes.
The Navigator Club was formed to support and encourage athletic competition by all HRA students.
