Seventh Grade Drama Presents "Commedia dell'Arte"

The following photos are from the 7th drama class grade performance of "Commedia dell'Arte". Commedia transferred
the traditions of Greek and Roman theatre through the dark ages to Shakespeare's time. The student made their own
commedia half-masks, studied stage combat, and Commedia versions of jokes they found on the Internet.

Arlecchino, a.k.a. Harlequin, begs Capitano to stop
beating him up as the old man, Pantalone, watches.
Students demonstrate a stage combat hair pull.

Using his tradmark slap-stick, Arlecchino exacts
revenge on the Capitano.

Two Innamorati, lor "Lover" characters, fight over a
parachute as their plane falls from the sky.

The brave Captain takes the first parachute.

The "Smartest Man in the World" takes Arlecchino's
backpack thinking it is one of the last parachutes.
Arlecchino scolds the Innamorata fornot being smart.
An Innamorata Angel grants wishes to a recent
arrival of Pantalone characters to Heaven.
