HRA swimmer commits to the University of Richmond

Hampton Roads Academy senior Nicole Piercy verbally committed to swim at the University of Richmond.
A skilled swimmer for Hampton Roads Academy and the Coast Guard Blue Dolphins, Piercy is a four-time all-state swimmer and was recognized by USA swimming as a member of the 2013 Scholastic All-American Swim Team. She also represented the United States as a part of the Maccabi games in Brazil, where she won 10 gold medals and two silver medals.

“Nicole is a consummate team player and always brings out the best in her teammates,” said Hampton Roads Academy Varsity Swim coach Jeff Scott. “She is a fierce competitor who has been a main component for our team throughout her swimming career. She will be a great asset to the Spiders swim program.”

Piercy, daughter of Ms. Wendy C. Drucker and Mr. Michael Piercy of Newport News, made official recruiting trips to Davidson College, JMU, Marshall University and Emory University. After visiting the University of Richmond, she and her family felt that the school was the perfect combination of outstanding academics and athletics. While Piercy looks to remain a current record holder at Hampton Roads Academy this season, she is ready to compete at the Division 1 level next year.
