One-Act Festival

Join us tonight & this weekend for the One-Act Play Fest , featuring HRA students, in our intimate black box format.
Hampton Roads Academy’s One-Act Festival celebrates three unique, short, one-act plays featuring HRA Upper School students.

Skin Deep
by Mary Lynn Dobson, directed by HRA third grade teacher, Kate Goddin, is a comedic, documentary-style play that looks at real-world mothers of real-world children’s beauty pageant contestants.

There Shall Be No Bottom, by Mark O’Donnell, directed by HRA Headmaster Peter Mertz, is a farce that features three actors and their stage manager performing a British mystery scene…badly!

Asleep On the Wind by Ellen Byron, directed by HRA Performing Arts Director, Jim Gandolfo, takes an intimate look at the relationship between Rootie, a 15 year old shy girl from Louisiana and her restless, favorite older brother, Beau, who will soon leave to serve in the Vietnam war.

Join Hampton Roads Academy’s Performing Arts for the One-Act Festival on Thursday, September 17, Friday, September 18 and Saturday, September 19 at 7 p.m. each night. All performances will be presented in Black Box format in the Svein J. Lassen Auditorium. Tickets are available at $5 for students and $10 for adults.
