CHAPTER 1 - NATURE OF SCIENCE

                                                   Chapter Test Study Guide – 2009

The purpose of this study guide is to help direct your study effort for the Chapter 1 test in General Science.

Test Date: Alpha, Bravo, Charlie and Echo Troops will take their test during their regular science class on Friday, September 26, 2008 and Foxtrot Troop will take its test during its regular science class on Monday, September 29, 2008. 

Test Weight:  The weight of the test is 8 points.

Test Makeup:  The test will have 50 questions composed of the following types of questions:

                         10   Multiple guess

                          5   Matching - Steps of the scientific method

                          8   True/False

                          4   Convert numbers in the metric system

                          4   Area/volume formulas and calculations

   2   Density problems

                         17   Vocabulary

Text Book Sections:  Material from all sections of Chapter 1 is eligible for inclusion in this test.

Material You Should Know:

How to convert within the metric system such, as from centimeters to millimeters.

How to calculate area and volume of a rectangular solid, such as a box.

The steps of the scientific method.

Vocabulary:  All vocabulary terms in the Chapter 1 list are eligible for inclusion in this test.

The vocabulary section will provide you with a list of 20 vocabulary terms and 17 sentences with blank spaces.  You will have to write the proper term in the blank space to make the sentence correct. Three of the terms in the list will not be used.
