WELCOME!

Welcome to the English 9 webpage! On this page, you will not only find the assignments, notes, and daily goings-on from Mr. George's class (the "need-to-know" stuff), but also links to interesting sites, "useless" knowledge, and generally cool information (the "nice-to -know" stuff).
ENJOY!

*YET ANOTHER COOL LINK*
Citation Machine is an excellent site for questions about citing sources in research papers. It even has a "citation creator" that allows you to plug in your source information; the citation machine will then create an MLA works cited entry for you!
NEWS FLASH!
STUDYING ACTUALLY HELPS YOUR GRADES!
THIS MAY COME AS QUITE A SHOCK TO SOME STUDENTS, BUT THERE IS A DIRECT CORRELATION BETWEEN STUDYING AND GOOD GRADES! IN A RECENT, INFORMAL POLL CONDUCTED BEFORE AN ENGLISH 9 TEST, ONLY 32 OF THE 74 STUDENTS IN NINTH GRADE REPORTED TO HAVE ACTUALLY STUDIED (AND BY "STUDIED", I MEAN THAT THEY SPENT MORE THAN 5 MINUTES FLIPPING THROUGH THEIR NOTES)! THAT'S LESS THAN HALF! NOT SURPRISINGLY, THE GRADES REFLECTED THIS.
STUDYING IS NOT A FRANTIC, "FIRST-TWO-MINUTES-OF-CLASS-BEFORE-THE-TEST-IS-HANDED-OUT" ACTIVITY!
AS THE YEAR PROGRESSES, THIS VALUABLE LITTLE TIDBIT OF INFORMATION SHOULD HELP YOU TO IMPROVE YOUR GRADES--
STUDY!
COOL WEBSITE ALERT!
Okay...I have to admit, this site may not be what you would consider to be truly "cool", but I'm an English teacher...
Purdue University has an online writing lab (the OWL). If you need to know something about grammar, punctuaton, MLA, or just about anything else that relates to writing--this is it! Just click on the link in the "Cool Links" menu.
