HRA has a Parents’ Association Facebook page that is updated daily. It is a great way to stay informed about school events and traditions. Additionally, the Parents’ Association hosts gatherings both during the orientation process and during the first month of school.
Lower School (Grades PK-4) and Grade 5 texts are supplied by the school and are available on the first day of the school year. Middle (Grades 6-8) and Upper School books listed by course on the HRA website and are purchased independently by parents.
Your division office will ask for your selections. Advanced Placement and Honors Level courses are applied for during the prior school year and are approved through each Department Office. Once approved, students work with the Registrar to schedule courses.
Varsity athletic teams may have summer conditioning schedules for the duration of the summer, and begin pre-season practices during the second week of August. JV and middle School teams generally start on the first Monday of school.
Your tuition payment deadlines will vary according to the following variables: when you were admitted, officially enrolled, and what payment plan your family has chosen. Your deposit reserves your seat and is applied toward tuition. 12 month plans begin in May of the year prior to the summer break. Otherwise, all fees and the next payment (after the deposit) are due on July 1.
Scheduling occurs over the summer. Upper School students will be asked to come to campus to meet with their Division Head and School Registrar to form a schedule during the months of June and July. Middle and Lower School students will receive their schedules / teacher assignments in late July or early August.
HRA is accredited through the Virginia Association of Independent Schools, a member of the National Association of Independent Schools and is a National Blue Ribbon School.
