Rising 9th Grader, Noah Gearey, Refinishes Benches at HRA for Eagle Scout Project

HRA rising ninth grader, Noah Gearey '25 refinished the benches in front of and around the Joseph Carpenter Gym as his Eagle Scout Project. On Monday, July 12th, Noah presented Hampton Roads Academy with a check of $3,000, which was the remaining balance of donations he fundraised for the project.  In total, Noah raised $8,100 for the project.
Noah worked with his Eagle Scout project mentor and mother, who are both engineers, in order to design and plan for the project.  With the help of about five other scouts and some other adults, Noah said, “we got [the benches] done in two full days work”.

Noah joined cub scouts in first grade and crossed over to boy scouts in fifth grade.  He plans to stay with the boy scouts until he is 18 and “do the fun stuff!”
