HRA's New Research Methods Class - The Midterm Projects

A first year offering for HRA students, the Research Methods class continues to encourage students to think outside the box and explore unfamiliar topics while discovering new interests and passions.
As part of this journey, students researched and designed their own midterm project and presented their final products during the last week of school. Seniors Faith Murray and Erin Ferrare, each delivered an impressive interactive presentation entitled “The Bioethics of Genetics” and “The importance of Environmental Science Education” to the HRA student body. Combining her interest in women studies and science, Junior Emily Helpinstill wrote a short narrative entitled “Where did she go? Female Scientists Forgotten by History” and designed and presented a hands-on lesson on the discovery of DNA to HRA 5th graders. Junior Chelsea Erwin put her art talents to the test producing an animation video exploring the benefits of doing research in secondary education and sophomore Scottie Holloway prepared and presented a short lesson on how prosthetics work. After winter break students will design, plan, and implement a semester-long investigation addressing a research question of their own choosing. Stay tuned!
