HRA Announces JJ Miller '90 as the 2018 Graduation Speaker

While at HRA, JJ Miller was captain of the cheerleading squad, a member of both the Key Club and Seniors in Community Involvement, inducted into Cum Laude and Mu Alpha Theta, a mathematics honor society, and recieved the James W. Holt Prize in recognition of service to HRA. Following graduation from HRA in 1990, Ms. Miller went to the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill where she received a degree in journalism and was a UNC Men’s Basketball Team Manager. She has spent most of her career in New York as a multi-media news and entertainment producer and executive. She lives in the city with her husband, Mike Al-Razaki, and their daughter, Amira. She is the Founder and President of her own company, JJ Miller Media, LLC.  Ms. Miller most recently was VP of Programming for PeopleTV and Executive Producer for the Style and Entertainment Group at Time Inc., overseeing TV and video for People, Entertainment Weekly, In Style, Essence and People en Espanol.

Other credits include VP and Creative Director for Katie Couric's Production Company (Cariellie Productions), Deputy Executive Producer at Huffington Post, Executive Producer for Sirius XM,  Producer for the Gayle King Show for Harpo, OWN and Oprah Radio, and Special Projects Director for O, the Oprah Magazine.

  • Serve as a Class Agent

    • Promote friendship and connection to HRA among former classmates
    • Support the Annual Fund through a personal gift and by encouraging alumni support through classmates and friends
    • Attend meetings and alumni phonathons
    • Help plan reunions
    • Collect and submit news for the Navigator class notes
    • Assist Advancement office with maintaining current contact information for class
    • Manage a class Facebook group page and other social media
  • Serve as a member of the Alumni Council

    • Attend three to four meetings a year
    • Support the Annual Fund through a personal gift and by encouraging alumni support through classmates and friends
    • Assist with Homecoming events and all-alumni reunions
    • Organize the alumni soccer game
    • Organize the alumni basketball game
    • Assist with school events (see below)
  • Volunteer at school events

    • Volunteer for a fundraising event (golf tournament, gala, etc.)
    • Volunteer in a classroom
    • Speak to students about your career
    • Offer an HRA student a summer internship
    • Serve as a Trustee of the school (appointed position)
    • Present awards at the Memorial Awards Assembly
    • Attend the Senior transition breakfast to help welcome the newest alumni to the group
