Spanish Long-Term Substitute

Hampton Roads Academy is seeking a long-term substitute teacher in Spanish for a faculty member who will be out on maternity leave. We are looking for an experienced instructor to begin school year 2018-2019, teaching introductory levels of Spanish in grades 7-9. Applicants ideally should have taught in a public or private school setting and feel comfortable creating engaging lessons covering grammar, vocabulary and cultural themes appropriate to the course(s). This position will run from the last week of August until Thanksgiving.

Director of Alumni Relations

Hampton Roads Academy is engaged in a search for a Director of Alumni Relations to lead a growing and comprehensive alumni program for HRA's 2,000+ alumni across the county. The Director will work closely with the Director of Advancement, Director of Communications, Director of Annual Giving, Director of Capital Gifts/Campaign, colleagues in the advancement offices, and the Alumni Association Board to implement all alumni activities, fundraising events, and communications in order to build upon strong relationships with the School’s alumni and foster a robust culture of engagement and philanthropy. Reporting to the Director of Advancement, the Director of Alumni Relations will actively solicit and secure alumni gifts, both capital and annual. He or she will oversee the growth of robust alumni programs in collaboration with the Alumni Association Board of Directors; work with others in the advancement office on the strategy and implementation of the Alumni Annual Fund; supervise all aspects of the Reunion Weekend; lead social networking strategies and activities for alumni; and coordinate alumni content for the school website in conjunction with the communications team.
This work will focus both locally and nationally, with the goal of increasing alumni engagement and giving. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree and three to five years of demonstrated fundraising success in a non-profit or independent school setting. They should also have exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills, as well as a demonstrated excellence in recruiting and managing volunteers, working in a relational database, adapting to shifting priorities, and planning events. Evening and weekend work is expected, as is the ability to travel and participate in off-campus events.
