US Fall Play - Six Characters in Search of an Author

HRA presents “Six Characters in Search of an Author” adapted by Steve Moulds produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc.(www.playscripts.com)

Six Characters in Search of an Author adapted by Steve Moulds from the play by Luigi Pirandello is a study in illusion and reality. Six characters, abandoned by their author, invade a rehearsal and demand to be brought to life. This adaptation of Luigi Pirandello’s classic is unique in its interpretation. The rehearsal, which is interrupted, is a Hampton Roads Academy rehearsal therefore some of our students are portraying themselves on stage. The students had the opportunity to determine the direction of the show. For example, it was decided that the students would be rehearsing The Crucible, a play which is read in English classes at HRA. Six Characters in Search of an Author is a thought-provoking play which explores actor versus character and closely examines how we define ourselves.

This play is designed for mature audiences and is not suitable for young children.

Hampton Roads Academy’s production of Six Characters in Search of an Author will be held be Thursday, September 26 at 7 p.m., Friday, September 27 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, September 28 at 2 and 7 p.m. Tickets are available for $5 for students/seniors and $10 for adults. All tickets will be sold at the door. For more information, visit www.hra.org or call (757) 884-9139.
