HRA Wins 8th Consecutive Division II State Title in Boys Swimming

Hampton Roads Academy was crowned the VISAA Division II State Champions in boys swimming on February 15 & 16 at the Jeff Rouse Swim & Sport Center in Stafford, Virginia. This is the 8th consecutive year they have taken home the title.
Top swims include Cooper Muench, of Williamsburg, who placed 5th in the 100 Breaststroke (58.81) and 12th in 100 Butterfly (53.26) and Hunter Muench, of Williamsburg, who placed 16th in 100 Butterfly (55.61). Blake Rouzie, of Williamsburg, placed 15th in 200 Individual Medley (2:03.48), Bryce Rouzie, of Williamsburg, placed 13th in 500 freestyle (4:54.79) and Avery Cronin, of Portsmouth, placed 15th in 100 Breaststroke (1:01.82). HRA’s 200 Medley Relay placed 8th (1:41.30), the team included Bryce Rouzie, Cooper Muench, Brandon Kim and Kyle Slate and the 400 Free Relay (3:23.83) placed 8th and included Blake Rouzie, Brandon Kim, Avery Cronin and Cooper Muench. The 200 Free Relay placed 10th (1:31.05) and included Hunter Muench, Trevor Ramer, Avery Cronin and Kyle Slate.

“The boys team had great momentum going into the state swim meet after a good showing at the TCIS and Division II Invitational meets,” said Head Coach Jeff Scott. “Our captains displayed great leadership, they arrived to the meet focused, ready to swim fast and help the team accomplish their goal of winning another state championship.”

HRA’s girls team placed fifth at the state meet and their relays placed in the top 16. The 400 Free Relay placed 10th (3:49.17) and included Josie Lindsay, Sophia Snyder, Molly Rouzie and Christy Slate. The 200 Medley Relay placed 12th (1:56.52) and included Christy Slate, Sophia Snyder, Molly Rouzie and Josie Lindsay. The 200 Free Relay placed 12th (1:46.41) and included Laura Renforth, Savannah Reed, Sophia Snyder, and Christy Slate.

"The girls team had a great year with some very impressive swimming that culminated at the state meet,” said Head Coach Jeff Scott. “With all swimmers returning for next season the future looks bright for the navigators."
