HRA spreads positivity, not germs
We want to spread positivity, not germs! While most regular after school activities have been curtailed this past month, that hasn’t stopped our HRA community from being inspired to use their creativity in helpful ways.
Members of the HRA Baking Club, led by Sophomore, Erica Feng, have channeled their community spirit and baking skills into providing delicious treats for Faculty, Staff, and Administrators working on campus to keep things running smoothly. Baked goods, including cookies and brownies, have been dropped off at the start of the week and enjoyed by all. Thanks to students and parents, who are making the baking project possible. You are appreciated!
Masks are a much needed item of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Two 8th graders, Scottie and Keira Holloway, have been making masks for that reason! Using his 3D printer, Scottie makes ‘ear savers’ for PPE masks, while Keira designs and sews the homemade masks. So far, they have made almost 40 and plan to donate them to the City of Poquoson and medical field workers across the country.
5th grader, Lincoln Edwards has also been running his 3D printer to make surgical mask extenders and 6th grader, Ryan White has sewn masks for donations to those who need them with his Scout troupe.
HRA Faculty and Staff members are also spreading positivity while away from school. Upper School Science teacher Becky Deeley and Upper School Administrative Assistant Kathy Shepherd have been creating and donating their wonderful face masks.
Although there’s plenty of unknowns and challenges, our HRA community will continue to use creative solutions to help with community service, even when physically apart.
