Edward Swanson to join Hampton Roads Academy in Summer 2022

Hampton Roads Academy is pleased to announce that Edward Swanson will be joining its administrative team as Director of Admission for Upper and Middle Schools on July 1, 2022.  In addition to this vital role in the Office of Admission, Mr. Swanson will coach the HRA Varsity Boys Basketball team and support other HRA Athletic initiatives.
Mr. Swanson comes to HRA after more than thirty years of collegiate admission experience within the athletic departments of Sacred Heart University and most recently, The College of William and Mary.  Swanson expressed, “HRA is such an exciting opportunity to continue to make an impact on the education sector in a school where I strongly believe in the mission.”

Mr. Swanson led a successful nine year stint as Head Coach of the women’s basketball team at the College of William and Mary during which he was named Colonial Athletic Association Coach of the Year in 2019-20 and Virginia State Coach of the Year in 2016-17. At Sacred Heart University, Swanson cultivated nine strong seasons with over twenty wins which prompted his induction into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame and Northeast Conference Hall of Fame. These accolades are a testament to the leadership skills and recruiting experience that Swanson brings to the table.

Edward Swanson received his Bachelor of Arts in Business from Sacred Heart University and now resides with his wife and two children in Williamsburg, VA. He looks forward to starting at Hampton Roads Academy and immediately contributing to the culture and continued success of the school.
