HRA graduate named National Merit Scholarship winner

The National Merit Scholarship Program, an academic competition for recognition and scholarships, selected Emily Payne from HRA’s Class of 2018 as a National Merit Scholarship winner.
More than 1.6 million high school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test and by meeting other participant requirements. Nearly 16,000 of those students are named Semifinalists and continue in the competition. Students must prove a record of high academic performance in addition to fulfilling several requirements including a detailed scholarship application to be selected as a finalist.

Hampton Roads Academy’s Emily Payne was named one of the 7,500 National Merit Scholarship winners chosen from a group of 15,000 Finalists.

Hampton Roads Academy’s Angela Pyo was selected as a College-Sponsored Merit Scholarship Winner. She was previously named a Finalist in the National Merit Scholarship program and was selected by her college as a College-Sponsored winner.
