HRA student selected as a Semi-Finalist in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program

The National Merit Scholarship Program, an academic competition for recognition and scholarships, selected a Hampton Roads Academy senior as a Semi-Finalist student in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program.
More than 1.6 million high school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test and by meeting other participant requirements.

HRA senior Sean O’Connor was named as a Semi-Finalist in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program, which places his score in the top one percent of U.S. high school seniors and among the highest scoring entrants in each state. Continuing his high academic standing and meeting other program requirements, he will be considered for the National Merit Scholarship.

“Sean is one of the most powerful and dynamic minds in HRA’s senior class,” said HRA Director of College Counseling Ben Rous. “That he would garner this kind of recognition is both gratifying and appropriate.”
