IRA Charitable Rollover Option Is Now Permanent

December 18, 2015 President Obama signed into law the IRA Charitable Rollover approved by Congress. This makes permanent a charitable option for individuals age 70½ and older that has come and gone over the past few years.

If you are 70 1/2 or older you can make distributions of up to $100,000 from your Individual Retirement Account directly to a 501 ( c) 3 non-profit organization, such as Hampton Roads Academy, without having to count those distributions as income for federal tax purposes.

If you arrange for a direct distribution by December 31, 2015, this will count for the current tax year.
