A look into HRA's Senior Project tradition

Pursuing independent study has been a tradition for Hampton Roads Academy students. While Senior Projects are a requirement for graduation, they also present an opportunity for students to learn about a subject that sparks their curiosity, passion or interest.  This year’s Senior Projects were wide-ranging. We will take a closer look a number of this year’s senior projects.

About their project:
For our senior project, we created a website designed to commemorate the senior class. In order to do so, we documented as many aspects of senior life as we could, including the arts, athletics, and general student life.

What was learned during the Senior Project experience: We gained a lot of knowledge about time management and working with a partner on a long term project. We also learned technical skills like how to design and manage a website, use Photoshop, and use the manual setting on a camera.

Senior Project advice you would give to younger students: Definitely choose something you are interested in because it does take up a lot of time and it makes it a lot easier when you are passionate about what you are doing. Also, make sure to be realistic about how much time you will have because it is easy to get in over your head.
