Interscholastic Competition

At HRA, interscholastic competition is available from grades 5–12, with 70 percent of students competing on one or more. View the complete list of teams and their results here.
As a segment of its large and varied extra-curricular offerings, Hampton Roads Academy offers a full roster of organized and successful athletic programs. Competing in 22 sports on more than 40 teams, HRA athletes regularly proceed to conference and state championships with 62 conference championships and 28 state championship teams. Teams and individuals have been recognized at the conference, state and national levels for their achievements and HRA athletes have continued their athletic careers at top colleges and universities.

In keeping with the tradition of HRA to educate the whole student, helping them prepare to navigate their next phases of life, participating in sports at HRA is so much more than scoring on a field or court of play. Athletics and sports at HRA aim to:

    Competition and practice happens on HRA’s state-of-the-art fields, including:

    • Grace Field – Home for the Varsity Football and Lacrosse teams
    • JV/MS Field – Home for the Junior Varsity / Middle School Soccer & Lacrosse teams
    • Track – 8-Lane, 400-Meter Synthetic-Surface Track
    • Tennis Courts - Six All-Weather Tennis Courts
    • Varsity Soccer Field
    • Field Hockey Field
    • Baseball Field
    • Softball Field
    • Practice Field
    • Spencer Gym – 18,000 sq. ft. – Home for the Varsity Basketball and Volleyball teams
    • Carpenter Gym – 10,000 sq. ft. – Auxiliary Gym with two full-size basketball and volleyball courts
    • Fitness Center – 4,000 sq. ft. – Full line of modular, free-weight, & cardiovascular machines
    • Athletic Trainers’ Room – Advanced treatment and rehabilitation technology
    • Locker Rooms – Eight team locker rooms
    • Carpenter Team Room – Used for team meetings and film sessions, seating for forty.
    • Athletic Department Offices
    • Students who participate in sailing, swim and golf teams practice and compete off campus.
