Williamsburg Art Gallery hosted Hampton Roads Academy Upper School exhibit

Hampton Roads Academy student artists had a unique opportunity to showcase their work at a nationally recognized art gallery.
The Williamsburg Art Gallery, which was recently recognized as a 2017 Best in Virginia and Top 25 Best Art Galleries and Museums in America by American Art Awards, showcased HRA Upper School student in September.

“We were all so grateful for the generous invitation to display our work in such a celebrated venue, among treasures by world-renowned and professional local artists,” said Upper School Art teacher Christine Contakes.

Students at Hampton Roads Academy are introduced to Fine Arts in Lower School and may choose from numerous art course offerings through Middle and Upper School. All HRA visual art courses are designed to provide a program in which students explore not only a wide variety of media, tools and equipment, but learn to design solutions with a creative problem solving approach. Keeping an open mind to ideas and art which comes from elsewhere is also important to The Williamsburg Art Gallery Director, Gulay Berryman.

An opening reception was held on the opening day, was open to the public and included refreshments and entertainment by HRA musicians. Click here to view images of the show.
